Here’s exactly what happens from the moment you open your link to the moment you finish. You don’t need an account, and you won’t create one.
Worth reading before test day — it takes about two minutes.

What you’ll need

A computer

A laptop or desktop. Some tests can’t be started on a phone or tablet.

A working webcam

Your test may need your camera on.

A stable connection

Setup loads a tool that can be slow on weak Wi-Fi.

Your student ID

Keep it nearby — you may be asked to photograph it.

A quiet, private space

Somewhere you can focus without interruptions.

Your test link

The link (or code) from your teacher.
Use Chrome or Edge on a computer for the smoothest experience. iPhones and iPads can’t share their screen, so if your test needs screen sharing, use a computer. More on this in Camera & screen setup.

Step by step

1

Open your link and agree to continue

Open the link (or paste your code on the Start here page). You’ll see a short summary of what the test checks during the exam.Enter “Your full name” and “Your email”, tick “I understand and agree to be monitored during this test.”, and click “Continue to setup”.Use your real, full name — your teacher uses it to find your work. (You can also Sign in with Google or Microsoft to fill this in and mark yourself “Verified” — this only confirms who you are; it doesn’t create an account.)
2

Take an ID photo — if your teacher asks for it

If you see the “ID verification” screen, hold your student ID up to the camera so your name is clearly visible, click “Take ID Photo”, then “Retake photo” or “Continue”. If you don’t see this screen, your test doesn’t use it.
3

Set up your camera and screen

On the “Setting up” screen, click “Start Test” and allow the camera and screen-share prompts.
  • When asked what to share, choose your entire screen — not a single window or browser tab.
  • You’ll see “Loading face detection…” — wait for “Face detection is ready.” (this can be slow on weak Wi-Fi).
If your teacher added instructions, they appear on this screen. Trouble here? See Camera & screen setup.
4

Wait to be let in — if there's a waiting room

You may be held for a moment after setup until your teacher lets you in. Just wait.
5

Take the test

Your test appears on the screen. Answer it as you normally would, and keep it in full screen until you’re done.
  • Need help during the test? Click “I have a question” — while you wait it shows “Waiting for teacher…”.
6

Finish

Submit your answers inside the form first. Then click “I’ve submitted my response - finish test”.
Finishing ends your session and can’t be undone. Only click it once the form has confirmed your answers were submitted.
You’ll see a confirmation — usually “Your test has been submitted” and “Your session has ended. You can close this window.” (Your teacher may show a different message or send you to another page.)
Closed the tab by accident? Reopen the same link in the same browser — you’ll usually pick up right where you left off.
Questions about your specific test? Ask your teacher — they can help. Proctorly support can’t see or change your test.
