# Understanding monitoring flags

> For teachers — what flags are, what each type means, and where to review and decide on them.

<Note>
  This page is for **teachers**. Flags are reviewed in your dashboard after an exam.
</Note>

A **flag** is something Proctorly noted during a session that may be worth your attention. A flag is a **note, not a verdict** — many have ordinary explanations. You review the flags and snapshots in the report and decide what matters.

## What each flag means

| Flag                   | What it means                          |
| ---------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| `face_not_detected` | No face visible in the webcam. |
| `multiple_faces`       | More than one person visible.          |
| `tab_switch` | Left the exam tab or switched windows. |
| `fullscreen_exit`      | Left full-screen mode.                 |
| `screen_share_stopped` | Screen sharing was interrupted.        |
| `audio_detected`       | Loud or suspicious background audio.   |
| `multiple_monitors`    | More than one display detected.        |
| `screenshot_attempt`   | An apparent screenshot attempt.        |

Each flag carries a **confidence** and feeds into the session's **risk level** (`High`, `Medium`, `Low`, or `None`).

## Reviewing and deciding

You **confirm** or **dismiss** each flag, and can set a whole-session **verdict** of **Clear** or **Escalate**. Snapshots captured during the exam back up each flag.
